2007 Steel Design Awards

On March 21, 2007, the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC), Alberta Region, is hosting the Steel Design Awards of Excellence at the Shaw Conference Centre. The awards celebrate accomplishments in steel design and construction in four categories: Architectural, Industrial, Engineering, and Steel Edge.

The deadline for Expression of Interest is January 22, 2007 and the complete Submission deadline is February 23, 2007.

AIA 2007 Grassroots Leadership and Legislative Conference

The RAIC Alberta Chapter will be participating in the 2007 AIA Grassroots conference in Washington, DC from from February 7 – 10, 2007. The RAIC Alberta Chapter representative, Samuel Oboh, with other National RAIC leaders – Jon Hobbs, Yves Gosselin, Paule Boutin, Kiyoshi Matsuzaki and David Craddock will be joining other AIA leaders in Washington DC to:

• Participate in numerous networking activities with peers,
• Gain new ideas from Knowledge Community colleagues,
• Sharpen and refine leadership skills,
• Share Blueprint for visions and experiences,
• Articulate ideas and positions during the Leaders Issues Forum, etc

In addition, the Grassroots conference will touch on GREEN issues! One of the AIA’s major strategic initiatives like the RAIC is sustainability. The RAIC Alberta Chapter plans to implement various models of sustainability initiatives gained from this conference for the benefit of our members.
